The Job: The primary responsibility of the Southold Town Trustees is to administer all activity within 100 feet of the town’s wetlands and the underwater lands owned by the Trustees for it citizens (also known as “common lands”). Southold Town possesses a rich heritage of scenic, historic, and natural resources which are vital to the town’s sense of place and to its economic success as a community. Trustee jurisdiction under the Andros Patent encompasses more than 2,000 acres of underwater lands, not including sound and bay front owned by the State of New York.
The District: Southold Town encompasses Orient, East Marion, Greenport, Greenport West, Fishers Island, Southold, Peconic, Laurel, Cutchogue, and Mattituck.
The Open Seats: Two incumbents (John M. Bredemeyer III and Michael J. Domino) are retiring this election cycle after many years of dedicated service, another (Greg Williams) is not seeking re-election for this position. This leaves 3 open seats.
Election Day: November 2, 2021
